Nixon on the Gay Episode of All in the Family:

"John Ehrlichman & Bob Haldeman May 13, 1971 498-005 Oval Office"

Apparently this was the first episode he saw and didn't know the name of the show. He thinks Meathead/Rob Reiner's character "goes both ways."

Like many things Nixon, oddly fascinating.

Update: Here is a clip from the episode:

The Nixon appearances on youtube are some sort of mix of haiku and sufi. I mean, you can go from the Manic Street Preachers 'For the Love of Richard Nixon' to the great man himself playing the piano concerto he composed.

I heard the tape a while back, but hadn't connected it with the episode--many thanks for putting both up. I enjoy this blog, by the way

My pleasure and thanks for the compliment on the blog.

I agree, Nixon entertains and there is much more funny stuff of his on YouTube.

It's funny that Nixon praised the Russians as a strong society (at around 6:20) and offered, as evidence, that they "root" out homosexuals and don't tolerate dope. I don't think history has agreed with Nixon's assessment.
